I've been making newsletter-writing way harder than it needed to be
A question for you before I overthink this again

Hi .
It’s been a minute since I dropped a newsletter into your inbox. And the longer I’ve gone without writing, the more pressure I’ve put on my own shoulders to get back at it.
It’s easy for me to start up a cycle of rumination and guilt and self-doubt (“I have too many things to say they don’t cohere into a single newsletter 😵💫 what even is the point of sending a newsletter?! 🫠 do I have anything worthwhile to share? 🫨 la la la I’m hiding from writing 🫣”).
I imagine this may sound familiar to you.
Surprise, surprise… this isn’t a sustainable way for me to write and share with you. I love doing the writing. I love the connections that come in the comments. I just need to find a better way to keep myself accountable and more feasible process.
So I brought this up in a CARE session yesterday. It was one of our quarterly Business Conundrum Co-storming sessions, where each person on the call gets to bring up an issue they’re facing, name the kind of support they want, and get that support from the group.
And based on some really excellent ideas from the folks who were there, I’m planning a bit of a revamp and refresh.
I’ll be aiming for a monthly cadence, and I’d like to keep sharing the things that resonate with you. So before I spiral any further, I’m dashing off this quick email to:
say hi (HI)
give you a l’il sneak peek that new issues are on the horizon
find out what you like
Here’s my 1-question attempt to find out what gets you curious to open these emails from me. Please do let me know.
When you open one of these newsletters, what are you most curious to find inside?
Of course, you can also reply to this email if you have more to say, but just that one question would be super helpful to know.
And if you’re curious what I’ve been up to in the last few months, a few of the answers are that I’ve
attended a weekend-long silent Buddhist meditation retreat
welcomed a new crop of members to CARE (you can get on the waitlist for insider deals in the future)
been working with a lovely SCORE Mentor to help refine how I talk about the Wayfinder Uncertainty Coaching I do
led two free workshops about taking ownership of how you tell your own professional story, for CreativeMornings and the Ness Labs community
migrated my email and file storage away from Google Workspace to Proton so I’m paying a company that respects my privacy
been prepping a Find Your Way Through Uncertainty workshop that I’ll be leading on June 24 for anyone in the Boston area who wants to come
traveled to Montréal to give this short talk to a room full of museum conservators about why it’s sometimes OK to let objects get damaged in the name of deeper visitor experiences
I hope you enjoy, and I’ll be back sooner than this months-long unintentional hiatus with the next iteration of Mutiny Against the Mundane.
Piratically, experimentally, iteratively, playfully,
Rachel
