🏴‍☠️ Yer annual dose o' pirate energy has arrived

A shanty fer sailin' through troubled times.

Banner with the words "mutiny against the mundane!" alongside a waving pirate flag, and text below reading "clever tactics & graceful roguery for culture carriers charting their own course" on a parchment-like background.

Ahoy, matey!

‘Tis I, yer Nimble Navigator, poppin’ into yer inbox with me annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day bonus email.

Last year, I sent ye a wee zine. This year I’ve written ye a sea shanty as this year’s treasure.

Consider it a bit of booty to remind ye why pirate energy is needed in the scurvy world o’ scallywags that be 2026.

[sing this here shanty to this here tune]

Oh, a pirate’s life is a wonderful life.
We don’t accept what is broke.
We find our own way
To get through the fray,
And look out for our like-minded folk.
Oh, look out for our like-minded folk.

Oh, a pirate's life is a wonderful life
Where you can hold your head high.
So go on, get creative
Or else agitative,
And show it’s all right to defy.
Oh, you’ll prove it’s all right to defy.

A looping gif of Max from the tv show Black Sails, looking serious as she says the words in the caption: "I did not fail to do it. I refused to do it, and would again."

A looping gif of the pirate Charles Vane from the tv show Black Sails speaking to a crowd in an open are setting, captioned "We are many, they are few."

As Max and Charles be remindin’ us:

refuse to do what ye must refuse,
remember we pirates are many, and the tr/billionaires are few,
and now, as ever,
watch Black Sails.

Wishing you fine winds, matey,
Captain Rachel of the Good Ship Otherwise
